AVENUE is a Christian non-profit organization that exists in order to equip churches, licensed counselors, and lay leaders to pave the way to help, hope and healing from sexual brokenness. We have been humbled to witness many hundreds of restored lives, marriages and families. In 1995 our first small groups were born in our home church, East Bay Fellowship in Danville. In 2000 we followed God’s prompting to offer our accrued wisdom to churches across the United States. We organized under the banner of AVENUE to answer that call, and set about refining our healing studies to produce our books for distribution. Our experience has taught us that people don’t need just a book, they don’t need just a group, they emphatically need both. Our goal from the beginning was to be a ministry with a laser focus on helping people heal from wounds created through sexual compromise, and restoring those individuals to wholeness, body, soul, and spirit. In order to make that a reality, our curriculum and our leader’s guides are comprehensive. We offer hands on coaching for our leaders and facilitators to help them create and maintain safe, confidential small group environments. Many people that have been through AVENUE for their personal needs have become passionate about offering the same hand to others in need. Most group leaders are AVENUE alumni, serving voluntarily from the abundance of their heart. Most administrative work is done by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our web bookstore funds our nominal administrative costs. Our leadership training and all other growth opportunities are funded primarily by contributions from group attendees. About Our Founders
In the process of healing from his own past, in 1995 he began facilitating small groups at his home church, East Bay Fellowship in Danville, California. According to their Senior Pastor, Ron Pinkston, "Clay has done his homework, lived in the trenches with other men, and continues to give his life away for the sake of others. The family he almost lost remains healthy and intact. He has become a wonderful father and husband." Another result of Clay's surrender to going God’s way was the divinely orchestrated freedom from massive indebtedness that had accumulated during the years he struggled sexually. Clay is an active Real Estate Broker in the dynamic market of Northern California for 30 years and counting. Though he always loved his vocation, he is passionate about his newer calling. He is devoting himself to helping men across the country embrace help, hope and healing. Clay authored the Operation Destiny series for men, a comprehensive study to walk men through this process. Clay's speaking events communicate genuine hope for those wanting to trade in a shortchanged life for the abundant life Jesus promised. His messages have been broadcast through Promise Keepers events, Billy Graham’s Decision Today, The 700 Club, and many various television and radio programs. He regularly delivers his messages to secular and Christian counselors, church and educational organizations, pastoral conferences, professional athletes, and youth organizations throughout the country.
Susan has been married since 1982 to her husband Clay. Together they are co-founders of AVENUE. They have one lovely daughter, and reside in Northern California. Their marriage and ministry is a testimony of the healing hand of God's touch.
